Religious Education Teachers - Coordinator: Diane Pitney, 978-874-1559.
Grades 1 - 5 (Sunday Mornings from 10:00 - 10:50 AM)
Grades 6 - 8 and 9 - 10 (Two Sundays a month from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Evenings)
Religious Education teachers perform the important task of teaching the youth of our parish about
the Roman Catholic faith. People participating in this ministry must be comfortable working with
children in a classroom setting. A curriculum is provided for each grade level which includes
carefully developed step-by-step lesson plans. Additional su[pport and resources are available from
the Religious Education Coordinator and the pastor. This ministry offers rewards to teachers when
they see the faith of our young people being expressed in their words and their actions.
Baptism Coordinator - Call the Parish Office for additional info, 978-874-2362.
The Baptism Coordinator works with parents and godparents of children who are preparing for baptism. The Coordinator holds monthly Baptismal Preparation Sessions for first-time parents. The Coordinator also communicates with the parish secratary and the pastor to see that all the details are in place for the baptism to take place. Since the Baptism Coordinator is often working with families who are new to St. Edward's, he or she must have a welcoming, hospitable spirit.
Adult Formation - Call the Parish Office for additional info, 978-874-2362.
RCIA Team
The Rite Of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which adults discern whether they
are called to enter into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through the celebration of the
Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist). The members of the RCIA Team
are individuals who share their own faith journeys and their knowledge of the Catholic Church with
adults who have had no faith background at all, adults who are coming from other Christian
traditions, or Catholic adults who have not celebrated their First Communion or Confirmation.
Resources are provided to assist the team in helping candidates to discern their call to be part of the
Church and then to prepare them to celebrate the reception of the sacraments.
Adult Education
Learning about our faith does not end when we have celebrated our Confirmation. We continue to
learn about our faith throughout our lives. As we move from one stage of life to another, we may
have the desire to learn about certain aspects of our faith. Adult education opportunities are made
available to parishioners from time to time.
Scripture Study
"Sacred Scripture is the speech of God as it is put down in writing under the breath of the Holy
Spirit" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 81). The Church encourages us to study the 'Word of
God'. One small Scripture Study Group meets at St. Edward's and they are willing to assist other
Scripture Study Groups in beginning.
2022 - With Deacon Malcolm Colgate - Bible Study group meets every Tuesday, 7-8:30PM in
the Parish Center. No need to sign-up, just show up!
Safe Environment Coordinator
The Church is concerned with the safety of all its members and particularly with the safety of its
children. All parish volunteers are required to attend Safe Environment training. The Safe
Environment Coordinator holds Safe Training as needed. The Coordinator also works with the parish
office to see that Safe Environment paperwork is up to date.
